Okay, 4 days and 12 hours of Aikido later - my knees hurt... also my right elbow (someone gripping too tight), my left shoulder (me being crap, on my left side at least, at breakfalls where you have to flip in mid-air) and my right big toe (no idea), I ache - a lot. I'm also *really* glad I took tomorrow off work ;-)
Still, it was a good course. Ezra Sensei from Liverpool and Minegishi Sensei from Guam. It's hilarious watching huge strong guys getting beaten up by a 69 year old Japanese lady who's shorter than I am. They got slapped in the face, slapped on the arse, kicked in the back of the legs and on one memorable occasion very nearly kicked somewhere slightly more vital. And they weren't even techniques, she just did it because in the course of doing a technique they foolishly left themselves vulnerable in some way. I got slapped on the back once because I wasn't keeping my back straight, but otherwise escaped. The other two lasses from my dojo weren't so lucky and at least one had several slaps to the face. Normally this wouldn't be funny, I've been to courses where the sensei has done that (to me), but if it makes sense the intent was different. She was a very funny teacher, not always clear in what she wanted from you, but she was very good and her stuff made sense. Definitely an experience and I would probably go to another course with her.
There were some good pics and I may post a few when I get my hands on copies, but for now I plan to veg on the sofa in front of a DVD or two, then have a good soak in a really hot bath, possibly with bubbles and then maybe an early night. Next class isn't until... tomorrow... for another 2.5hrs... oh well...
