The Latest Gem
Feb. 6th, 2011 10:25 amSome of you will have more context than others, but I think the WTFery will remain. This is a recent conversation between me and my dad.
D: You're not taking your laptop through today (in a tone seeking confirmation of obvious fact)
M: Yes I am (in a tone of confusion at this assumption)
D: But you've still not got any internet
M: I know, but I can still read, write and watch dvds on it (thinking: there's not a lot else to do there at the moment)
D: Oh, right. But you're not going to leave it there?
M: What?
D: I wouldn't leave it there when you're out. You should take it to work with you.
M: What? Every day? I'm not going to take it to work with me, it's big and it's heavy and there's nowhere to put it and why on earth shouldn't I leave it in the flat during the day?
D: Well it's a flat, people might see you taking it in.
M: (still with the whut expression) And...? (thinking: it's first floor, not overlooked, there's a keypad to get into the building and the standard door and window locks and generally people around as they are flats, as opposed to where it's sitting at home in a ground floor room, clearly visible through a large window in an isolated property)
D: Oh, well I suppose you did get insurance
M: O_o
It's not just me right? Right?
In other news my youngest brother has just got engaged, they're planning a Hawai'ian wedding in June. All I could think of was the Hawaii 5-0 tune. It's June, I want to go, but I have no idea if my finances can take it at the moment.
